During our EPIK orientation, one of the lecturers showed us this video to (humorously) illustrate what the educational culture is like here. (The title is basically “A High School Student’s Day,” and it went viral a few years ago.)
It’s both hilarious and, sadly, kinda realistic. Students here have a huge workload and a lot of stress, starting in middle school but especially in high school leading up to the big university entrance exam. It’s a really, really, really big deal. There’s a lot more pressure on kids in the academic environment here than in America. Basically, their lives revolve around school and studying in order to do well on the exam.
